I've used #7 quite a lot and find it especially good for black and red cars.
I usually apply with a Megs Foam Pad and rub well into the paint and then remove straight away as there is nothing to be gained from leaving it to haze. From my exp the paint immediately appears slightly darker, but as been said #7 offers no protection and you will need to top with a wax or sealant, Colli would be great, but in the summer have had solid black looking dripping wet with P21S to follow.
