56k Icon My car of the day, new Alfa Romeo Giulia GTAm

The Giulia Quadrifoglio has been a huge success for Alfa Romeo and to cap things off, Alfa have built this GTAm and it could be the most exiting sports saloon in a long time. Alfa Romeo will only build 500 units, 250 GTAm and 250 GTA's at a cost of £176,500 for the GTAm which is featured here but you do get a sports saloon like no other. For starters the GTAm looks quite different to the regular Quadrifoglio on which it's based. There is a new adjustable carbon-fibre wing and splitter front and rear, with extra addenda all the way down the sides and underside of the vehicle. The car sits lower, it's wider and rides on 20 inch wheels that have behind them vast carbon ceramic brakes. There are two versions of the car, GTA and GTAm in which the latter has a rear wing mounted and a full roll cage fitted instead of the regular back seats and even has plastic rear windows to keep weight down and fire extinguisher placed at the back. The engine and gearbox remain unchanged so you still have the Ferrari developed 2.9 twin-turbo V6 producing 533 BHP so a 30 BHP upgrade over the regular Quadrifolio which is thanks to a different map and improved oil cooling. Torque stays at 600 Nm. The cabin has been lifted with red strapping door pulls, Alcantara covered dash with red stitching and carbon bucket seats with six point harnesses. I think Alfa have done a grand job, the GTAm looks a Peach and for those that can afford one and lucky enough to get on the waiting list it's worth every penny. A future classic for sure.

Oh that’s a yes, but to be fair, the normal Quad is a yes and I think I’d prefer that…

All other things being equal, I’d have both, too. Job’s a good ‘un!
