Proton Satria GTI

In the words of Britney Spears ‘ooooooops! I did it again’

Wife goes to bed and stay up looking at cars on eBay, Facebay etc...

Night before last I was on gumtree and started to look for cars I had in my late teens, early 20’s... back then I liked to be different so had a Y reg Satria...

Tastefully modified, wheels, lowering springs, mono bits, decat exhaust etc...

Anyway I see an advert for a Satria Gti with 45,000 with 1 previous owner. Advertised at £2595. Offered him £2000 and we agreed on £2100 which is fair price for something with full service history and completely standard... and only 80 or so left on the toad.

Car was located in Leicester which is a good 2.5hrs away so decided to get a quote on Shipley. £190 later and less than 48hours after seeing it, it arrives on a trailer...

From what I can see it’s 100% original. Still has a working META alarm that controls the central locking.

Body work wise it has lots of scratches and scuffs some I think will buff out but others may need a smart repair.

I’ve just taxed and insured it for a month so will do what I can with it and then probably tuck it away and then enjoy the punto GT which I should have back in the next couple of weeks.

I’ve had a quick look at the paper work and looks like the owner bought it from Skoda at 17,000 miles for £5999 in 2003. Maintenance bills for upward of £5000 in the last 16 years. Oddly no service book with stamps but lots of receipts.

Had a service at 44,000 back in March 2019 with new rear brake callipers, rear pads, rear discs amongst other things for £762

In the same month another £801 spent on power steering rack plus a lot of other little bits.. all work carried out at a Jag specialist!

Needles to say it’s been very well looked after mechanically but body work it’s rough which makes it the perfect project for me, as in useless with a spanner!

Wow, that will be a great project. Yours looked really smart. I saw one regularly near me up until a few months back. Always thought they were good looking little cars.

Really looking forward to updates.

PS - late nights on Autotrader are a nightmare

That looks good for its age with a bit of room for improvement.

Nice one, enjoy

Love it, used to have one as a track car.

Evo 1-3 engine slots straight in with very little fuss.

Awesome cars, enjoy.

No expense spared and looks a good one.

'Engineered by Lotus and built by Proton' was the slogan used in the advertising back in the day if I remember correctly.

Have fun and enjoy!
