Someone’s dented my car!!!

Okay so I pull into a carpark and find a corner spot as always.

I’m right on the edge of the space as far away from any car as I can be.

Someone pulls in next to me (okay no problem) and I just have this niggling feeling that they’re going to dent my door. I take a photo of my car with the other next to it before I leave.

I return a while later only to find a whopping great big dent in my rear door right across the natural crease design, quite obviously from their car door being swung open. There’s about a 20p size worth of paint chipped off too

The car is 4 weeks old, my pride and joy and I’m livid. I drove my last car for years without this ever happening.

The car that parked next to me was branded up with a business name and number which I have as I took a photo.

The car was no longer there when I got back

What would you do from this point? It’s a new BMW which if I go back to them to fix expect won’t be cheap. Do I ring this company and complain!?

I’m just looking for advice on the best way forward here as I ideally want my car fixed by the person that did it!!

Thanks
Tom

Feel your pain and can imagine how gutted and frustrated you are, but unless you’ve actual witness / footage etc of the vehicle you suspect doing it, you’ve nothing at all to gain.

You’ve no proof that they didn’t leave and another vehicle came in - potentially did this and then moved away...

Pop a photo up - you might get assistance on here if people think it’s suitable for a smart repair...

Hope you get it sorted...

Thanks for the response, I understand what you’re saying, I just thought if I call and explain that he was parked next to me and then a dent appeared he might on the off chance be a genuine person and confess (if indeed it was him)

Picture doesn’t give the best representation, the weather is also awful

Like you said hopefully someone can give me a steer on cost.

Thanks again

Ouch. That's not good.

If the person wasn't honest enough to admit it at the time, they'll never admit it unless you've got solid proof.

That's a bodyshop job for me.

Feel your pain, get a quote from body shops you trust then see how it compares against your excess. I would be livid like you, have been through similar

What an absolute tool!! Feel for you pal. I've had it to me where some knob has parked right next to me even though there's been lots of other spaces. So I've just moved out straight away to avoid things like this.

Angry for you mate. Drives me mad when I go out my way to avoid other cars in carparks only to return & find some ****** has decided to ignore every other space & parked next to you

Nightmare. Bet that's awkward to fix right on that crease.

Happened to me 2 years ago. Parked on the end space (which I have never done since) and ran into shop and back out within 2 minutes and I could see from about 20 feet away someone had swiped the passenger side of my car. Full rear door scratched and paint transfer. I nearly cried and it's only a 9 year old daily so I really feel for you mate
